Bush remains non-soft on stem cell..tainted love for the discarded

I really have no desire to re-hash the arguments over the use of embryonic stem cells for research and possible use in a cure for diabetes and Parkinson’s disease. The Prez’s veto of the latest bill to ease restraints on federal funding for stem cell research was no surprise considering the veto was a reprise.

Tony Snow’s comment:

“The president does not believe it’s appropriate to put an end to human life for research purposes,” Snow said. “That’s a line he will not cross.”"

is typical. I do hope other forms of cell research such as amniotic and adult cell show the same promise and potential as embryonic stem cell, but I feel once again compelled to interject in this debate: WE ARE TALKING ABOUT EMBRYONIC CELLS THAT ARE GOING TO BE DISCARDED AND TRASHED. These are not created for the purpose of cloning or research. These embryos are the earnest result of people who wish to have children but cannot reproduce ‘normally’.

I understand both sides of this debate, but I don’t want the discard issue to be lost in all the heat.
