And “they’re” probably not really good at polo either, or, Tramm dives in deeeep

Tramm Hudson, Florida Republican running for the congressional seat vacated by Katherine Harris, was recounting an experience he had in the military while crossing a river, and that some folks had more trouble than others….

“I grew up In Alabama, and I understand, and I know this from my own experience, that blacks are not the greatest swimmers or may not even know to swim.”

His subsequent apology was difficult to understand because it is difficult to speak with a wingtip crammed down your throat.

Tramm is seen here with two unidentified women and his chief campaign adviser.

  1. no wait, i can totally understand where he’s coming from with this one. i grew up in a suburb of boston, and there weren’t any black kids at my swimming lessons. and, come to think of it, there weren’t too many non-white kids at my elementary school or in my girl scout troop either. so, like, either we have a system in america that keeps people of colour from fully integrating into communities like mine, or else people of color hate thin mints and nature hikes also.

i mean, i’m pretty sure it was because they hated the cookies… right?

  2. Tramm was just speaking from his personal experience, which was probably something like this:

    # black kids he knew who could swim = 0

    # of black kids he knew, assuming knowing includes ‘saw sometimes at the store’ = 1

    % of swimmers = 0/1 = 0%
