I WANT TO RESPOND TO A COMMENT YOU MADE ABOUT THE CHURCH of CHRIST IN REFERENCE TO THE MARY WINKLER CASE.
WE HAVE BEEN LABLED A CULT AND TO HARSH WHEN IT COMES TO DIVORCE! I AM HERE TO TELL YOU WE ARE TOTALLY THE OPPOSITE. WE ARE A FAMILY OF BELIEVERS THAT USE ONLY THE BIBLE TO DEFINE TRUTH OR ERROR. READ MATTHEW CHAPTER 19:10.
THE BIBLE TEACHES THAT GOD HATES DIVORCE AND JESUS SAYS DONT DO IT.
IF MARY WAS ABUSED SHE SHOULD HAVE LEFT HIM UNTIL MATTHEW COULD FIND RESOURCES TO MANAGE AND OVERCOME HIS ANGER. BEING A CHRISTIAN IS NOT EASY IN A NON CHRISTIAN SOCIETY. MY PIONT IS FAMILILES WOULD BE HEALTHIER AND COULD AVOID DIVORCE IF THEY WOULD TAKE THE TIME TO READ HIS WORD AND IMITATE HIM ON A DAILY BASIS. I AM HERE TO TELL YOU BEING A MEMBER OF A SOUTHERN CHURCH OF CHRIST IS AWESOME AND I AM NOT ASHAME TO SAY THAT TO ANYONE. WE ARE NOT A CULT. ROMANS 16:16.
PEOPLE NEED TO GO TO THE BIBLE ONLY TO SOLVE THEIR PERSONAL ISSUES AND IF THAT TOOK PLACE WE WOULD HAVE STRONGER FAMILIES, STRONGER CHURCHES AND STRONGER COMMUNITIES NOT CULTS!!
CHRIS HOLLEY
Chris – why are you shouting at me? Oddly enough I grew up in the church of Christ and know very well what many people in the church of Christ profess. I really don’t remember what comment/post you are referring to, but why you chose to respond here seems odd.
There are many ‘flavors’ of the church of Christ. I am fully aware that traditional c of C shuns divorce except in the case of sexual infidelity. On the other hand, that ‘strict’ viewpoint has lead to much guilt, shame and people leaving the church for other ‘pastures’, because of the nature of the shunning.
I was probably commenting on the attitude of the c of C that I grew up in.
thanks.

I like your list; I have been writing “lists” like that in my journals for years. (I think it was a John Waters book that inspired it.) Anyway, it reminded me of a Tom T. Hall song called something like “I Love”. I like reading your blogs…
Soon after study several of the weblog articles for your web site now, and that i genuinely like your method of blogging. I bookmarked it to my bookmark site list and are checking back soon. Pls consider my internet website too and inform me what you consider.
